FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

-How do I give?
There are three ways to give.

  1. You can give via PayPal. You do not have to establish a PayPal account to do this, because you can give as a guest user. Just follow these steps: visit our church website at www.beaconbaptist.com/donate/ , under the "Designation" tab choose "Verroi Fundraiser," and submit your donation by following the prompts given on the PayPal site. Please note: PayPal charges a 2.95% processing fee which means that 2.95% of your gift will not go to Josiah and is therefore not tax deductible. But the other 97.05% will be tax deductible, and you will receive a statement from our church at the end of the year.
  2. Cash. We will turn the cash directly over to the church so that it can be added to the account.
  3. Check. You can mail your tax deductible gift via check to:
Beacon Baptist Church
1622 Kirkpatrick Road
Burlington, North Carolina 27215
*Please put “Josiah Verroi Fund” in the memo line.

-Who is Beacon Baptist Church and why are they managing the funds for you?

Christy has attended church at Beacon her entire life, and her father is currently on the pastoral staff. Jeremy joined the church after they were married in 2000, and Christy and Jeremy have been blessed to raise their children in such a loving and supportive church family for the past 16 years. Beacon has agreed to manage the funds for us so that our supporters can make tax deductible donations, and so that we have a trusted organization helping us in this way.

-Why didn’t you make a “gofundme” site?

Because our boys receive therapies and services that are based upon our income, we cannot make more than a certain amount each year. It is a little known fact that the money gathered via “gofundme” is considered income. This would put us above the yearly income limits, and we would lose many of the boys' therapies and services.

-Are there other ways I can help?
YES! Here are a few ideas of ways that you can help us reach our goal:
*Donate - partner with us to make this happen for Josiah.
*Share - Share our story, post a link to this website, and like our facebook page.
*Request - Ask your church, place of employment, family, and friends to consider partnering with us. We even have flyers that you can set out with donation jars.
*Commit - If we had 60 people commit to raising $1,000 for Josiah, it would break what seems like such a HUGE amount of money to raise into smaller much more manageable pieces. Bake sales, car washes, boy scout badge projects, donating a portion of the funds you earn on a given day, etc. The possibilities are endless!
*Pray - Pray that the Lord would bless our efforts, and that He would be glorified through this project.

-What about Jalen?
As many of you know, our son Jalen has a severe form of Autism as well. The pool will help Jalen tremendously! Jalen has SPD like Josiah, but his is not as severe. That being said, swimming has been proven to be a wonderful therapy tool for most kids with SPD. The reason we are focusing on Josiah for this project is because Josiah’s safety is at risk and his quality of life is so diminished due to the severity of his sensory needs. (I have always loved this picture of Josiah and Jalen from several years ago. Sadly, the statistic is now 1 in 68 children will be diagnosed with Autism in the United States.)
